“She (Gloria Trevi) She is the best of her generation. “There is no argument,” said a Puerto Rican communicator who, like many of her compatriots, arrived at the Puerto Rico Coliseum José Miguel Agrelot to enjoy the concert “Mi ‘Soundtrack’”, by the Mexican singer.
Through a five-act show that started at 9:35 pm, The Monterrey pop star presented plenty of reasons for the opinion of the relationist and fan of “La Trevi” to be repeated. The 56-year-old artist offered a tour of her 35-year career that included classic and recent songs in versions that had never been heard in Puerto Rico.
For the opening of her tenth international tour, the exponent prepared a simple, but revealing video. While the lights inside the facility flashed, audio was heard of the moment when different media outlets reported her arrest on January 13, 2000.
The events date back to 1997. Gloria de los Ángeles Treviño Ruiz, the first name of the Mexican star, fled from the public eye while, at the same time, in Chihuahua a criminal complaint was filed by the parents of a 17-year-old girl named Karina Yapor, who belonged to the team. of the singer’s work and had disappeared along with her, her producer and other young women. Together with her former romantic partner, Sergio Andrade, Trevi remained a fugitive until January 13, 2000, when the Brazilian Federal Police discovered that she was living with false documents in Rio de Janeiro.
The composer was sent to the institution’s prison in Brasilia, where she was imprisoned for almost four years. In 2004 she was acquitted of the crime by Mexican justice and released in the early morning hours of September 21 of that same year.
In the audiovisual material, the businesswoman contrasted this difficult period in her life with the countless artistic presentations she has made to date around the world. “Powerful”, “rebellious” and “renewed” were three words that stood out on the giant screens of the montage.
The song “Medusa” served for the activist to open the evening in which she was accompanied by six dancers, two choristers and seven musicians. Without the need for scandals and exaggerations, the multi-award winner received the first of several ovations from her audience.
“Puerto Rico of my soul. The truth is that our life has music, and the moment in which we decide to fight for our dreams has a song, and that song is the same for you and me. That moment in which we ventured and said ‘Today I will leave home,'” said the one who debuted in the cinema in 1991 with the film “Pelo Loose”.
Trevi, dressed in black, added a short multicolored tulle skirt, or tutu, to her trousseau. With this slight change in “look,” the owner of almost twenty record productions gave those present the first medley of the night with hits like “Ya no” and “Zapatos Viejos.”
Since her first steps in her musical career, the artist’s relationship with the Puerto Rican public has been one of trust. This was also evidenced last night with expressions like “I love you, bastard” and “Don’t be suckers.” Likewise, without any shame, “La Trevi” changed her clothes in front of everyone with a little help from her dancers.
The ballads, surprisingly, were among the most anticipated songs by those present who sang at the top of their lungs classics such as “What am I going to do without him”, “With my eyes closed” and “The count of the damages”. The nostalgia became evident.
Along these lines, who is characterized by his extroverted and irreverent personality asked the audience if they remembered the first song they heard on the radio that he wrote. This type of interactions, which undoubtedly made more than one person think, extended throughout the evening just like the changes of clothes.
“Virgin of virgins” defined the vibe of the night. “La Trevi” returned without restraints, free and overflowing with passion. For this musical number, the artist demonstrated several of her facets: producer, actress and singer.
Thanks to technology, the audience felt like they were in a story. An enchanted forest, a suspenseful setting and two giant gift boxes were some of the main elements. The Mexican came out on stage dressed as a fairy.
Trevi did not take long to remove the “other fabric” and at the end of the performance she was helped by her dancers and assistants. “Men are such bastards,” she said as they took off some pieces of her wardrobe. “We’re going to get kinky,” she added with a mischievous smile.
Pieces also appeared on stage, such as a cloud-shaped piece of furniture from which he sang “There is no pillow” by Mary Morín, the same composer of “Pelo Loose,” which he particularly likes a lot. She also had a star turn in which she soared across the stage on two occasions.
Throughout the evening he performed other medleys with which he made the audience dance by including the songs “I have no clothes”, “Les diré, les teremos” and “La acera de opposite”. Likewise, she conquered the public with her most recent urban songs “Dímelo alverso” and “Me Llares.”
Almost at the end of the “show” Trevi spoke about his recent bioseries, in which he narrates what he experienced at the beginning of his career with his first representative. “Love does not manipulate you, nor does it take you to jail,” he said without holding back his tears. She then performed “Dressed in Sugar,” a dedication to her husband, Armando Gómez, to whom she has been married for 14 years.
Thanks to this relationship, the hostess said openly, today she feels “free” and believes that even “with a broken heart” you can love again and “be happy.”
