10 Indians working as support personnel in Russian Army returned home: External Affairs Ministry

Ten Indian citizens working as support personnel in the Russian Army have been released and have returned to India. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) gave this information on Thursday. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India is pressurizing Russia to ensure the return of all other citizens serving in similar positions in the Russian army.

“Ten Indian nationals have been released and have returned home,” Jaiswal said at his weekly press conference. Following the loss of lives of two Indians working as support staff in the Russian army, India Last month, India had appealed to its citizens not to risk their lives by doing such jobs.

Jaiswal said the Indian side is very actively pursuing the case of all Indians serving in the Russian military at various levels, including the Ministry of External Affairs, Defense Ministry and many other organizations in Russia.

“We are committed to repatriating all those who have come in contact with us so far and want to return home,” he said, adding that the number of people who have been working with the Russian military since last year were reported to be about the same. 200 Indian citizens were recruited.
