The software industry has a high demand for jobs in Argentina. It is a sector that has salaries that are among the highest in the country but you can’t find suitable staff.
For this reason, the Chamber of the Argentine Software Industry (CESSI), within the framework of its Software as a Future (SaaF) program, launched by its own management and with sponsoring partners, some free introductory training courses in software development.
The activities are intended for all those interested who seek to reconvert or want to start studying a subject related to computing.
This initiative is complemented by the provision of coworking spaces in different municipalities of Argentina.
The idea is to generate developer communities and adequate study spaces so that future experts do not have to leave their cities and can contribute to a federal development of the industry.
This initiative has the collaboration and coordinated work between the State, educational institutions, the productive network and the software industry with the aim of offering free training spaces throughout the country.
In addition, it proposes to generate 400,000 new positions in industry, 10,000 million dollars of new exports and 20,000 million dollars of aggregate GDP by 2031.
Within the framework of SaaF, CESSI together with partner companies such as Globant, Alkemy, Finnegans and Microsoft, participated in hackathons and fairs where they gave talks on job placement in different provinces, arousing interest in the communities.
In addition, the chamber in alliance with Junior Achievement (an international educational foundation that seeks to generate an entrepreneurial spirit in young people) continue to offer courses, with Microsoft and Google as allies, in introduction to software development and, soon, they will offer training in Cloud Administration from Microsoft.
Free software courses for beginners
For its part, the SaaF is also working in partnership with CISCO, CISCO Networking and Edutek to give introductory courses on JavaScript, Python and Cybersecurity. The call ends on January 30th and already has more than 6,000 registered throughout the country with an average age of 30 years.
Complementary to this, in March 2023 the SaaF will launch together with Alkemy an employability platform for developers that allows accelerating and certifying people’s technical and soft skills.
This tool is designed to facilitate the training of young talents, allow them to show what they know and obtain certifications, which will be a very valuable tool for the recruitment sectors of CESSI member companies.
Today, the software industry employs almost 140,000 people and, during 2021, it was the one that grew the most, with more than 15,500 new formal, quality, inclusive and federal jobs.
With the year 2031 as the projection deadline, the SaaF has the firm objective of transforming software into the growth engine of the country. The participation and involvement of the different actors is essential to achieve this.
