The Central Government has provided ‘Z’ category security of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandos to Yashwant Sinha, the opposition candidate for the post of President. Officials gave this information on Friday. The squad has taken over the security of Sinha after the Union Home Ministry directed the VIP Security Wing of CRPF to ensure the security of Sinha (84). Officials said that whenever Sinha travels anywhere in the country, eight to ten armed men will protect him.
Notably, NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu has also been given Z+ category security. Sinha is understood to file his nomination papers on June 27 after which he will be visiting different parts of the country to seek votes for himself. The presidential election will be held on 18 July and the counting of votes will take place on 21 July. The term of current President Ram Nath Kovind is going to end on July 24.
