WHO once again told Monkeypox “increasing danger”, but expressed relief on this matter

Monkeypox not currently an issue of international concern

Geneva:

After Corona, a disease called monkeypox has scared the world. That is why it is being discussed a lot for the last few days. The WHO said after a meeting on Saturday that monkeypox is currently not a cause of international concern. In fact, the Director General of WHO seems to agree with the advice given by the IHR Emergency Committee regarding this disease. In such a situation, at present, monkeypox is not a matter of concern at the international level.

.

However, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanam Ghebreyesus expressed his concern about the monkeypox. Tedros Adhanam Ghebreyesus said that there is a need to act immediately to prevent the further spread of the monkeypox virus. Outside West and Central African countries, there has been an increase in monkeypox cases since the beginning of May. Most of the new cases have been reported in Western Europe. “The Emergency Committee shared serious concerns about the scale and speed of the current outbreak,” Tedros said.

So far this year, more than 3,200 cases and one death have been reported to the WHO from more than 50 countries. The committee unanimously recognized the emergency nature of the incident and emphasized the need for intensive response efforts to contain further spread of the outbreak.” It is headed by Jean-Marie Ocho-Belle, former director of the WHO’s Vaccination Department.
