Wheat did not reach the markets even for the second day, the commission agents’ strike continues – dainiktribuneonline.com

The government has announced the purchase of wheat from April 1, but even on the second day not a single farmer reached the mandis with wheat. On the other hand, the commission agents remained on strike for the second day also regarding their demands. Farmers Rahul, Kamaljeet, Arun and Vinod Kumar said that except a few places, wheat harvesting work has not started at other places because this time the cold lasted longer.

It is still cold at night and in the morning, due to which it may take 15 to 20 days for the wheat crop to ripen.

Market Committee Secretary Sanjeev Sachdeva said that all preparations for wheat procurement have been completed, farmers will not face any problem while bringing the crop to the mandis. Employees have been appointed to cut gate passes at all the gates of the market, it is expected that the arrival in the markets will start in the next week.

On the other hand, on the call of the State Grain Market Agent Association, the commission agents of mandis across the state remained on strike for the second day. The commission agents protested by raising slogans against the wrong policies of the government. The commission agents said that until their demands are met, the symbolic strike will continue. At present the symbolic strike will continue for a week.

Government should fulfill the demands of middlemen: Mittal

Satbir Mittal, head of the commission agents association, said that the government wants to eliminate commission agents by making rules against them. Arbitrary rules of the government will not be tolerated. He said that the government should accept their demands. Farmer leader Bahadur Baldi said that the government should immediately resolve the demands of the commission agents.
