Weather Updates today : It is freezing cold in different states of the country. In the next 24 hours, there is a possibility of cold wave in Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has predicted a further increase in the minimum temperature from January 4 due to the effect of western disturbances. Due to this, there may be heavy rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh between January 4 and 7.

Dense fog was seen in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. People were seen lighting the bonfire. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate and heavy rains are also expected at some places in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh between January 5 and 7.

Minimum temperatures increased at most places in the Kashmir Valley on Saturday, while the Meteorological Department expressed the possibility of partial snowfall at higher places in the Valley. The officers provided this information. According to him, the minimum temperature in Srinagar went down to 2.4 degrees below zero. The minimum temperature in the city on Friday was three degrees below zero. According to officials, the mercury dropped to minus six degrees Celsius in Gulmarg, a famous tourist hub of north Kashmir. Today’s minimum temperature was three degrees higher than yesterday’s. The minimum temperature in Pahalgam was minus 6.1 degrees Celsius as against minus 6.6 degrees Celsius the previous night. Officials said the minimum temperature in Qazigund, considered to be the entry point of the valley, was recorded four degrees below zero. The mercury dropped to three degrees below zero in Kokernag, near South Kashmir.

The minimum temperature in north Kashmir’s Kupwara was 1.8 degrees Celsius. The Met Office has forecast partial snowfall at higher places from Saturday evening to Sunday morning. Also, there is a high probability of widespread snowfall or moderate to heavy rainfall from January 4 to 6, he said, adding that such conditions may prevail on January 5 and 6. There is also a possibility of heavy snowfall at some places during this period.
