Terming as disappointing the criticism on social media for not living up to his hopes of winning a gold medal at the World Wrestling Championship, Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat said players are not robots. Vinesh also asked fellow players to keep working hard so that the culture of such criticism can be ended.
Vinesh won a bronze medal in the 53kg category last week in Belgrade. Earlier, the way she lost 0-7 to Khullan Batkhuyag of Mongolia in the qualification round, there was a lot of criticism on social media.
However, he made a spectacular comeback to win the bronze medal match after two rounds in repechage without losing any points. He wrote in a post released on social media, ‘Players are also human beings. Being a player does not mean that we act like robots in any tournament. I do not know whether this culture is only in India or there is other place also. Where people become experts sitting at home.
