Wales’ candidate for Miss World recounts her isolation from COVID-19 in Puerto Rico

Wales’ representative in the contest Miss World 2021, Olivia harris, was one of the candidates infected with COVID-19 who had to spend isolation and quarantine in Puerto Rico, after the suspension of the contest and change of date for the March 16, 2022.

The beauty queen was part of the COVID-19 outbreak that was registered in the contest where 23 candidates and 15 positive people from the work team were reported. This caused the cancellation of the final, originally scheduled for December 16, 2021. The representatives of 98 countries had to pause their desire to meet the new sovereign in the Coliseum of Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot.

The 19-year-old girl published -before Christmas Day- a message of thanks on her social networks after her stay on the island. Harris, and the rest of the infected candidates, had to remain in quarantine in Puerto Rico until completing the isolation period.

“We will be back! And stronger than ever. Thank you all for all the lovely messages I have received during the last week ”, he expressed in the letter with which he also thanked the competition team for all the attention received during his trip.

The candidate acknowledged that the determination of the postponement of the contest on the same day that it would be held, “It was disappointing after four weeks of hard work, we all knew it was the safest decision.”

Unfortunately, I was one of the girls who tested positive for COVID0-19, as a result, I remain in quarantine in Puerto Rico and will do so during the vacation period. The @missworld Organization has ensured that we are receiving the highest level of care and I would like to thank them and of course my director @paulaabbandonato for keeping me safe and for reorganizing everything. I know that some members of the Miss World team have stayed here to support us instead of returning home to their families and I am eternally grateful to them, ”he wrote in the message.
