Video. Olympic Games 2022: despite a positive doping test, skater Kamila Valieva will be able to compete

From the first Olympic Games to 15 years old, was the story too good to unfold? Russian skater Kamila Valieva has been tested positive for a banned substance by anti-doping authorities. It was therefore suspended on February 9, before this decision was finally lifted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), five days later.

The athlete’s age and the responsibility of his adult entourage are at the heart of this affair: according to Rachael Denhollander, a former American gymnast turned lawyer, “A child doesn’t make the decision to potentially risk everything she’s worked so hard for” by doping. World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) President Witold Banka said “cruel and unforgivable” the doping of minors, calling for “banned for life” the adults who would be responsible for it.
