The head of the National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism (Inadi), Victoria Donda, traveled to Geneva, Switzerland, to chair a forum on minority issues of the United Nations before an empty auditorium.
It was the fourteenth session of the Forum on issues of the United Nations minorities.
Donda’s participation was highly criticized on social networks for the image provided by the transmission of the event: an auditorium with less than ten people That raised questions about the need to have traveled to Switzerland and not participate in it via videoconference.
Donda’s trip, framed in an official activity, transcended amid the controversy generated by the elimination of installment financing to buy tickets abroad.

In addition, there were criticisms of difficulties that the official presented when speaking in English.
Although he did most of his participation in Spanish, he had difficulties with English when mentioning the organizations that participated in the forum. On several occasions he got stuck while reading and had to try several times.
Government sources not linked to the diplomatic area admitted to Clarín: “It is a shame.”
At the beginning of the forum, Donda clarified that due to the restrictions of the pandemic, the event is carried out in a hybrid way, both in the plenary room and through zoom.
The objective, according to the official, is “to promote dialogue and cooperation in matters of public policies and actions in defense of the affected groups.”

The appointment of the head of Inadi, made by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (Acnudh), “signifies recognition of the work carried out by the body since its creation and particularly its current management, which is preparing a new National Plan against Discrimination 2022-2024 “.
It is not the first controversy
With his questioned participation in the UN, Donda is once again at the center of a controversy, after the scandal over the denunciation of a domestic worker because he had her in black for ten years and offered him a social plan as compensation.
Osvaldo Barsanti, lawyer for Donda’s domestic worker, denounced last January that the official offered her client a contract at INADI or to write her down in a social plan, if she gave up work at home.
On that occasion, the lawyer broadcast an audio in which Where he said to his employee: “What I’m telling you is that you can write down a plan or something, we can write you down. I need you to tell me that, if you quit, because you have to unsubscribe to be able to sign up for a plan. Likewise, later you can pay for you to take out your retirement. But I also need to figure that out. And I also understand that you need your money. In the plans they are charging about 10,000 pesos and the considerations can be close to your house. “
Last July, Donda was dismissed by federal judge Sebastián Casanello. The magistrate determined that the official did not incur a legal offense after being denounced in December 2020.
Five months after the complaint, Casanello concluded that there was no crime after investigating whether at any time administrative procedures had begun for an alleged appointment of Banda Oxa at the anti-discrimination institute.
However, the prosecutor Guillermo Marijuan appealed the dismissal, stating that “it has been proven that the accused, abusing her status as a public official, privileged her private interest.”
