US relaxes advisory for India travel, issues ‘Level-1’ travel health notice

America’s apex health body has issued a “Level One” COVID-19 notice for Americans traveling to India, saying there is a reduced risk of infection and severe symptoms if fully vaccinated travel to India could. The “Level One” travel advisory issued by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday comes amid the improving conditions of coronavirus infection in India.


The CDC said in its health travel notice “Level One”, ‘If you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorized vaccine, your risk of corona infection and severe symptoms may be reduced.

Also, the notice states, before traveling to India, make sure that you are fully vaccinated. Travelers should follow the Corona Protocol in India, including wearing a mask and maintaining a distance of 6 feet from others.

After 8,865 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in India in a single day on Tuesday, the total number of corona virus infected in the country increased to 3,44,56,401. These are the lowest daily cases reported in the last 287 days. At the same time, the number of patients under treatment has come down to 1,30,793, which is the lowest in 525 days. After the death of 197 more people due to infection, the death toll increased to 4,63,852.

In August, the US relaxed its travel advisory for India and lowered it to Level-2. Earlier this year, the US had advised its citizens not to travel to India, keeping India in Level-4.
