Trump accused of trying to overturn the results of the 2020 US elections

He is accused of four counts, including conspiracy to defraud the United States, witness tampering and conspiracy to violate civil liberties. The indictment includes an investigation into the events related to the riots at the US Capitol two and a half years ago.

The allegations stem from an investigation by special counsel Jack Smith into allegations that Trump tried to reverse his defeat to Democratic rival Joe Biden. Let us tell you that Trump is leading the race for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

Minutes before the indictment was handed down, Trump posted on his Truth social media platform that he had heard about the indictment.

He wrote, “I hear that Jack Smith, the lunatic, will be making another false accusation of your favorite president, to interfere in the 2024 presidential election.”

The officials testified that Trump pressured them based on false claims of widespread voter fraud. Biden’s supporters attacked the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, to prevent Congress from certifying Biden’s victory.

Trump said on July 18 that he had received a letter from Smith informing him that he was the target of a January 6 grand jury investigation in Washington. Trump has already become the first former US President to face criminal charges. He has described this whole incident as politically motivated.
