Train service started in Sri Lanka with the help of coaches received from India

Colombo:

Sri Lanka launched an inter-city train service on Sunday, using diesel multiple units procured from India. This train service will connect the capital Colombo with Kankesanthurai, the northern end of the Jaffna peninsula, which has a Tamil majority population. Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka tweeted, “Train service to Northern Province has been started today to power Sri Lanka’s railway infrastructure. In this, two pillars of the development partnership with India are reflected – infrastructure development and country-wide focus.
