The Supreme Court agreed to list the petitions challenging the Centre’s decision to abrogate the provisions of Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir for hearing after the Dussehra holiday. A bench of Chief Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice S Ravindra Bhatt took cognizance of the submissions of a lawyer. On April 25 this year, a bench headed by the then Chief Justice NV Ramana had agreed to consider listing the petitions challenging the Centre’s decision after the summer vacation. The top court will have to reconstitute a five-judge bench to hear the petitions after the Dussehra holiday.
