Terrorists shot dead a police sub-inspector in Pampore area of Pulwama district. His body was found riddled with bullets. Security forces have started searching for the terrorists. Sub-Inspector Farooq Ahmed Mir was attacked at Sambura in Pampore area on late Friday evening. The body of Farooq Ahmed Mir was found in the paddy fields near his house. It is said that the terrorists kidnapped him.
Police also recovered two empty pistol shells from the spot. The terrorists have fired two bullets near the heart of the police sub-inspector. The deceased sub-inspector has been identified as Farooq Ahmed Mir (50) son Abdul Gani Mir. He was working in IRP 23rd Battalion at CTC Lethpora. Police are trying to find the killers. The Sub Inspector is survived by his father, wife and three children.
According to the information, Farooq had left home to go to the fields around 8 pm on Friday. When Farooq did not return till late in the night, the troubled family members set out to find him with the help of the local people. When they reached the field, they saw Farooq’s body lying in the fields. Police was informed. When the team reached the spot, it came to know that he had been murdered. There were bullet marks on his chest. A bullet was fired near his heart. Taking the dead body in their possession, when the police examined the fields, they found two empty shells of bullets there.
On the other hand, the terrorists planted IEDs on the Handwara-Baramulla highway with the intention of targeting the security forces as well as the common people, but like every time, the security personnel not only detected the IED in time but also deactivated it in time. Saved the lives of innocent people too.
Police said that the terrorists had planted the IED on the Handwara-Baramulla highway. Apart from the security forces, there is more movement of common people on this highway. When a team of security forces was checking the highway in the morning, they saw a suspicious object at a place. After deactivation of IED, vehicular movement has been restored on Handwara-Baramulla highway.
