Varanasi, May 15 (Agency)

Survey-videography work of Gyanvapi Masjid complex in Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh continued for the second day on Sunday amid tight security arrangements. Officials gave this information. Varanasi Police Commissioner A. Satish Ganesh said on Sunday, ‘As per the order of the Honorable Court, the process of survey has been started in the Gyanvapi Masjid premises for the second day as well. The members of the commission are working inside. He said, ‘Perfect security arrangements were made yesterday also, but today it has been improved further to ensure that the people who come for darshan do not face any kind of problem.’ “It is our responsibility to provide an ideal environment so that the survey process can proceed without any hindrance,” Ganesh said.

While going for the survey, Special Advocate Commissioner Vishal Singh said, “With me, Supreme Court advocate Rajendra Nath Pandey will also be present in the mosque premises during the survey. The rest of the Saturday team is going inside on Sunday.” According to Singh, every effort will be made to complete the survey today and submit the report in the court on May 17. District Magistrate Sharma had told that amidst tight security arrangements, videography of the Gyanvapi mosque complex was done on Saturday and about 50 percent of the survey work was completed. He had said that the survey work would continue on Sunday as well. Sharma told that the survey work is a confidential work and it is being done under the supervision of the court.

It is worth mentioning that the Gyanvapi Mosque is situated close to the iconic Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The local court is hearing a plea by a group of women seeking permission for daily prayers in front of the idols on its outer walls.
