Stones were pelted and several vehicles set ablaze during a religious procession in Nuh district, adjoining Gurugram in Haryana on Monday. Police said that during the stone pelting between the two sides, the police used tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. In view of the tense situation, internet service was suspended in the area. Police force has also been called from other areas.
According to the police, a group of youths stopped the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra near Khedla Mor in Nuh and started pelting stones. An official said that “one or two cars” in the procession were also set on fire. According to reports, people in the procession pelted stones at the youths who stopped them. The Jalabhishek Yatra was flagged off by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) District President Gargi Kakkar from Civil Lines, Gurugram. A contingent of police was also deployed along with the procession. Police said some people were injured in the clash, but did not give the exact number. According to some claims, the reason for the clash was an alleged objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal worker in Ballabhgarh. Nuh’s station in-charge Hukam Singh said, “The situation is stable in the area.
