Start government procurement of paddy or else GT Road jammed on September 23: Chadhuni

Shahabad Markanda, 21 September (Nice)On Wednesday, a meeting of Bharatiya Kisan Union Chadhuni in 5 districts of Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kaithal and Karnal was organized under the chairmanship of National President of BKU Gurnam Singh Chadhuni. In this, two main issues were discussed which included immediate start of procurement of paddy and government procurement of 22 quintals of paddy per acre by the government.

Addressing the meeting, Gurnam Singh Chadhuni said that the government is reducing the farmers’ purchase of paddy every year in terms of per acre. According to his information, this time the government has made a rule to purchase 22 quintals per acre, whereas the crop in the farmer’s field is 30 to 35 quintals per acre. He said that this rule is totally wrong and is not acceptable to the farmers. According to the rules of the government, paddy starts growing from 15th June and comes for sale in the market for 90 days i.e. till 15th September. He said that paddy started arriving in Shahabad grain market from September 6 and till now 60 thousand quintals of paddy has arrived in the market.

It was decided in the meeting that if the government does not start the government procurement of paddy by September 22, then Bhakiyu and farmers will jam the GT road, which will be the responsibility of the government. On this occasion, Yamunanagar head Sanju Gudiana, Kaithal head Mahavir Chahal, Hoshiar Singh Gill, Ambala head Malkiat Singh, Ajay Rana and Sandeep Singraura from Karnal, Bharat Chowgama from Indri, Krishna Kalmajra from Kurukshetra district, BKIU press spokesperson Rakesh Bains, Executive Circle Head Many farmers including Jasbir Singh Mamumajra, Pawan Bains were present.
