Shakira will have her exhibition at the Grammy Museum

Los Angeles - It’s just getting started, but 2023 promises to continue to be a great year for Shakira, Now with an exhibition.

The career of the Colombian star, awarded three Grammy and 11 Latin Grammy, will be the subject of a Grammy museum exhibition opening March 4 in Los Angeles. The exhibit, titled “Shakira, Shakira: The Grammy Museum Experience,” will open March 4 and will be open to the public at its Latin music gallery, the museum said Thursday.

Among the featured pieces in the show are several of his favorite guitars, a covered Gibson with more than 70,000 Swarovski crystals; the acoustic Taylor guitar with which he composes; a Fender covered in pink Swarovski crystals that he performed with on his 2006 and 2007 Oral Fixation tour, as well as a Yamaha that he performed with on his 2018 El Dorado tour.

Nor could they miss the two suits she wore in Super Bowl 54 in 2020, the costumes from her El Dorado tour and a leaf-covered bikini that she wore on the cover of her first English-language album, “Oral Fixation, Vol.2” by 2005. In addition, visitors will be able to see a notebook with the lyrics of their songs written by hand.

“I am honored to have my career journey on display at the Grammy Museum,” Shakira said in a statement sent by the Recording Academy. “These pieces are a testament to so many indelible moments that I treasure, and I am happy to relive those memories with those who have supported me and continue to support me as an artist.”

The announcement of his exhibition comes two weeks after the release of his song “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” with the Argentine DJ and producer Bizarrap, with which he is currently at the top of the list of the most listened to songs of the week on Spotify in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Spain and Mexico. On a global level, she is only surpassed by “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus, placing herself in second place on Spotify.

On the radio, the song has similar popularity, with top spots on Los 40 Principales stations in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Spain, and Mexico.

The song debuted at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making her the first female solo artist to reach the Top 10 on the chart with a song in Spanish. She has also broken the record for the most monthly streams for a Latino artist on Spotify and her video has more than 206 million views on YouTube since its release on January 11.

Shakira, who has more than three decades of experience, has stood out as a singer, songwriter, producer, dancer, visual artist, and philanthropist. Among his hits, “Inevitable”, “Hips Don’t Lie”, “La tortura”, “La bicicleta” and Ojos así stand out, as well as albums such as “Sale el sol”, “Pies descalzos” and “Where are the thieves?”.

The Grammy Museum show will explore his musical evolution from his origins in Barranquilla, Colombia, to a global superstar whose music spans genres as diverse as pop, bachata, rock and reggaeton, helping to popularize Latin music for the world public.

It will also have interactives that give a glimpse into his creative process, three original films and an immersive space, inspired by the El Dorado tour.
