America (US) A 31-year-old Indian-origin man was shot dead in the city of New York. The man was sitting in the parking area in his borrowed SUV car in the Queens area. The incident comes days after an Indian man was shot dead in the head in the US state of Maryland. New York Daily News According to reports, Satnam Singh was sitting in the back seat in a black jeep at South Ozone Park at around 3:45 pm on Saturday afternoon when he was shot.
Police said that Satnam Singh lived at a distance from the area where he was shot. Police said that Satnam Singh was immediately rushed to the hospital after being shot in the chest and neck but later died. It is learned that Singh had taken that car on loan from his friend sometime back and he had come to pick up someone.
Investigators are trying to find out “whether the gunmen had come to kill Satnam Singh or wanted to kill the owner of the SUV and didn’t know who was inside.” So far no arrest has been made in this case. The report said that according to the police, the gunmen reached Satnam Singh on foot but neighbors say that the bullet was fired from a silver colored sedan car.
Neighbor Joan Capellani said Singh was on 129th Street when another car arrived in preparation.
The car took a U-turn, came back and fired again, he said. Then the car went ahead on 129th Street. The incident has been recorded on a Cappellani home security camera, and the New York Police Department is looking at the footage as evidence.
Satnam’s neighbor Christina Prisaud told the New York Daily News that “he was very kind and calm. I would greet him whenever I saw him. Maybe he was the target, but I don’t know.”
The incident comes a few days after the Indian national of Telangana, Sai Charan, was found injured after being shot inside an SUV in Baltimore, Maryland. Sai Charan, 25, was taken to a trauma center but died on June 19.
