Konstantin Nemichev is the commander of the Kraken volunteer unit and one of the Russian Army’s priority targets. In an interview with Efe he explains that Russia is building up forces in Kharkov amid a resurgence of attacks on the Ukrainian region.
“The Russians are building up forces and now there are five new battalions ready to attack,” explains Nemichev, a former member of the Azov Battalion.
In his opinion, the Russian Army “now has another priority, which is Donbas, and it cannot press so hard on Kharkov,” a city located just 40 kilometers from the border.
Kraken, created in Kharkov at the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24 by veterans of Azov, is not part of the regular Ukrainian Army but is attached to the Ministry of Defense
