Reports monthly construction low of 5% in June

During June, the value of the production of construction companies in Nuevo León amounted to three thousand 956 million pesos (mdp), a decrease compared to May, at current pesos, of 5.23 percent, but an increase of 27.17 percent in relation to to the same month last year.

The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) reported that with this performance, the entity’s participation in the national total was 7.4 percent, well below first place, which was occupied by Quintana Roo with a contribution of 12 percent.

“It is normal that given the low execution of projects in Nuevo León, the entity has considerably lowered its participation in the national total, coupled with the fact that Quintana Roo is benefiting from the construction of the Mayan Train,” said an analyst.

By segments, Building added projects for 1,815 million pesos, a drop of 13.13 percent in relation to the month of May and 8.93 percent when compared to June of last year.

The Water, Irrigation and Sanitation category registered works for 134 million pesos, a monthly increase of 55 percent and an annual increase, compared to June 2022, of 68.74 percent.

Specialists commented that the work being carried out in the El Cuchillo II project is what explains the increase in income reported by this segment.

Other items that registered a positive performance were Electricity and Telecommunications, and Transportation and Urbanizations, with monthly increases of 31.26 and 3.46 percent respectively, and annual increases of 164.36 and 77 percent.
