Railway Megamarch: Follow LIVE the demonstration on February 14

The railroad workers kept their promise and They started the day with protests this Wednesday, February 14.

  • 8:28 hours: The railroad blockade continues, so there are damages in the streets near the National Palace, including the vicinity of the Zócalo and Pino Suárez.
  • 6:00 hours: The associations demonstrated in the streets near the National Palace and blocked the entrance to the ‘mañanera’ led by AMLO.

The next blockade is expected to be at 9:00 a.m., with closures on the border at the height of Nuevo Laredo, Ciudad Juárez and possibly Nogales.

Why are railroad workers protesting?

Among the protesters’ demands is the realization of a social justice project after the privatization of the railway system.

The members of the Railway Front for Union Reconstruction (Ferro) demand that the Government consider their demands and They said they were disappointed in the way the secretary acted. of the Interior, Luisa María Alcalde, who closed the door on the negotiations.

The blockades will not only be in CDMX, but demonstrations are also planned on the Mayan Train and the Isthmus Train, both railway works and emblems of the current administration.

In November AMLO approved an initiative to launch 7 train routesbut to date the project has not started.

AMLO declared as a priority and part of the national development is the Mexican Railway System, so the new routes will run -mostly- on railways concessioned between 1996 and 1999.

Some train routes are:

  • Mexico-Veracruz-Coatzacoalcos train.
