Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for the third consecutive day on Wednesday for questioning in the National Herald money laundering case. Rahul Gandhi reached the ED headquarters located on APJ Abdul Kalam Road in central Delhi at around 11.35 am with ‘Z’ category security of CRPF personnel. He was accompanied by his sister and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi. He had left the ED headquarters at 11.30 pm on Tuesday after questioning that lasted for over 11 hours.
Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in large numbers around the Federal Investigation Agency’s office and prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Penal Code (CrPC) are in force. Congress MP from Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi has been questioned for nearly 21 hours in the ED office in the last two days. He was questioned over several sessions and his statement was recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Officials said that Gandhi’s interrogation could not be completed on Tuesday, so he has been called to record his statement on Wednesday.
