Haryana government has restored three percent quota for sportspersons. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday. Apart from Minister of State for Sports Sandeep Singh, top officials of the department were also present in the meeting. Recently, by issuing a letter from the Haryana government, the quota of 3 percent for the players was abolished. All the opposition parties and players of the state are besieging the government regarding this matter. Meanwhile, after the marathon meeting held in Chandigarh, the Chief Minister restored three percent quota for sportspersons under the Outstanding Sports Policy. It has been decided to continue with the reservation at the rate of 3 per cent in the total third category jobs, while the reservation at the rate of 10 per cent for sports quota is already in place for Group D jobs. Now the government will also give a chance to the players in Group C to choose the department. In this regard, it was said, ‘The Haryana Government will continue to give direct jobs to the posts of category-A, B, C under the excellent sportsperson employment policy of the Sports Department, moving forward with the slogan of ‘Padak Lao-Pad Pao’.
Along with this, the Haryana Government has also decided to get the data of results online from the sports federations. The data of the participating players will be put in the public domain by calling for the results of the competitions for the last 10 years from various sports federations. Apart from this, in future, the sports federations will have to upload the results on the portal being prepared by the sports department within 15 days of the competition so that there is no scope for any change later. With this, only eligible and deserving players will be ensured to get the benefits of the beneficial schemes and reservation etc. of the Haryana government.

The government has also decided that in every district, one category-A post will be created in the name of ‘District Sports Manager’. Direct recruitment will be done on these posts for post graduate and youth having educational qualification and experience in sports management. Let us inform that since the year 2018, 19 players have been given appointment letters to Category-A, 30 players to Category-B and 63 players to Category-C posts without any examination and interview. Apart from this, 396 players have been given jobs in Category C.
