Punjab Congress will soon get a new head

Punjab Congress will soon get a new head. For this the high command has started the selection process. The names of four leaders for the post of president have been sent to the high command by the Punjab Congress Committee. The names of former chiefs Navjot Sidhu and Chanjit Singh Channi are not there in these four. After losing the assembly elections in Punjab, Congress had accepted the resignation of President Navjot Sidhu. At the time of change of power in Punjab, Congress had appointed four working presidents apart from Navjot Sidhu. At present, apart from Navjot Sidhu, the four working presidents have been relieved. Now the Congress has started the selection process for the new president. Amarinder Singh Raja Vading, former Home Minister and third-time MLA Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Ludhiana MP and grandson of former Chief Minister Late Beant Singh Ravneet Bittu, became MLA for the third time for the post of President from Punjab Committee and was All India Youth Congress President. Former MP Santokh Chaudhary’s name is included. Now the high command will appoint any one of these four leaders as the President of Punjab Congress.

Navjot Sidhu becomes leader of dissidents in Punjab

Ludhiana (Nice) : On one hand, Punjab Congress is busy in appointing state presidents, while former state president Navjot Sidhu has started forming his own faction. Sidhu is in the process of becoming the leader of the dissidents in Punjab. Navjot Sidhu reached Ludhiana on Tuesday after holding meetings with former MLAs in Amritsar and Kapurthala and interacted with disgruntled MLAs at the residence of former minister Rakesh Pandey here. The meeting was presided over by State Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, who himself lost badly from his Amritsar East seat. Though Sidhu kept quiet after the meeting, Bhulath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira said that the meeting was mainly to go into details of the steps taken by the Modi government with regard to the situation in Chandigarh UT. When asked about Mr. Sidhu’s resignation from Khaira, he quipped that Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation has not been accepted yet, so he is still the state Congress president. Rakesh Pandey of this meeting had a different story to tell. He said the meeting gave details of the reasons due to which the party suffered a humiliating defeat in the recent elections in the state. It is worth mentioning that Pandey has been a party MLA six times. Pandey said that most of the leaders who attended the meeting blamed the Congress party leadership both at the Center and in the state for their misguided actions and deceit, including the ouster of Captain Amarinder Singh as CM and Charanjit Singh Channi. as Chief Minister. He also said that serious discussions were held in the meeting to revive the spirit of the party and its workers. Former PPCC presidents Mohinder Singh KP, Surinder Davar, Harvinder Singh Laddi, Piermal Singh Bhullar, Tarlochan Singh Sund, Major Singh, Balbir Singh and Nirmal Singh were also present in the meeting.
