PSG’s new millionaire expense

The Paris Saint Germain (PSG) executed the option to purchase the Portuguese international defender Nuno Mendes19, who will be linked to the Parisian club until June 30, 2026, the club announced in a statement on Tuesday.

Mendes, Sporting de Portugal youth squad born in Sintra, arrived at PSG last summer at the end of the transfer market on loan initially for 7 million euros and with a subsequent and obligatory purchase option of €40 million.

In this operation, Pablo Sarabia from Madrid, who played for PSG, was loaned to Sporting de Portugal. In his first season in Paris, Mendes won the French league title with his team.

The left back played 37 games with the team led by Mauricio Pochettino, of which he started in 27, and gave two goal assists.

Mendes was nominated for the trophy for “Best promise of the last season” of the French league, of which he was chosen as the best left back at just 19 years old.

He made his debut with the Portuguese national team in March 2021 against Azerbaijan, a few months before participating in the European Championship played last year, and has 13 caps for his national team.
