PM Modi will be in Uttarakhand today, will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth Rs 17,500 crore

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Lakhwar Multipurpose Project to be built at a cost of about Rs 5,750 crore. The project was first conceived in 1976 and was pending for many years. According to the PMO, “the foundation stone of this project has been laid as per the Prime Minister’s vision of giving priority to the long pending projects. This project of national importance will enable irrigation of about 34,000 hectares of additional land, 300 MW of hydro power generation and supply of drinking water to six states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.

During this, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several road projects worth about Rs 8700 crore. The projects for which the foundation stone will be laid. They include four laning of 85 km Moradabad-Kashipur road to be constructed at a cost of over Rs 4000 crore, two laning of 22 km of Gadarpur-Dineshpur-Madkota-Haldwani Road (SH-5) and Kichha to Pantnagar (SH-5). SH-44), construction of 8-km long Khatima bypass at Udham Singh Nagar, four-lane national highway (NH 109-D) at a cost of over Rs 175 crore.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, the foundation stone of many road projects in the entire state will also be laid by the Prime Minister. These include construction of 133 rural roads totaling 1157 km at a cost of over Rs 625 crore and construction of 151 bridges at a cost of about Rs 450 crore.

In an effort to expand the state’s medical infrastructure and provide world-class medical facilities to people in all parts of the country, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of AIIMS Rishikesh Satellite Center in Udham Singh Nagar district and Jagjivan Ram Government Medical College in Pithoragarh.

These two hospitals are being built at a cost of Rs 500 crore and Rs 450 crore respectively. The PMO said that better medical infrastructure facility will not only help the people of Kumaon and Terai regions but also the people of border areas of Uttar Pradesh.

houses will be constructed

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the construction of about 2400 houses for the economically weaker sections in Sitarganj and Kashipur areas of Udham Singh Nagar district. These houses will be constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) at a total cost of more than Rs 170 crore.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of 73 water supply schemes in 13 districts of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Jal Jeevan Mission to improve the supply of tap water in the rural areas of the state. A total of about Rs 1250 crore will be spent on these schemes and more than 1.3 lakh rural families of the state will be benefited.

Apart from this, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of water supply schemes for these two cities to ensure regular supply of quality water in the urban areas of Haridwar and Nainital.

The PMO said, these projects will provide about 14500 tap water connections in Haridwar and more than 2400 tap water connections in Haldwani, which will benefit about one lakh population of Haridwar and about 12000 population of Haldwani.
