India has asked Pakistan to focus on its internal affairs instead of raising the Kashmir issue and making baseless allegations against New Delhi. Madhusudan was responding to a Pakistani delegate raising the issue of Kashmir during an open discussion at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on global food insecurity due to famine and conflict.
Madhusudan said, “Unfortunately, we have seen that a delegation has again misused this platform to divert the attention of this council from the important issue of food security.”
Madhusudan emphasized that India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity cannot be compromised. He considered it unnecessary to engage in discussion or debate with those who resort to terrorism to further their illegal goals.
Madhusudan advised Pakistan to concentrate on internal matters and restore order within its borders “instead of indulging in frivolous allegations against my country”.
India and Pakistan have strained relations on a number of issues, including Islamabad’s continued support to cross-border terrorism and the Kashmir issue.
India says that Jammu and Kashmir has always been a part of the country, is and will remain so. Bilateral relations between Islamabad and New Delhi have been strained since August 2019, when India scrapped the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
