Opposition uproar on various issues including allegations against Adani Group, Rajya Sabha disrupted

Uproar by opposition members demanding revocation of suspension of Congress member Rajni Patil, deletion of portions of speeches of some opposition members, including Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, and setting up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee to probe the matter related to the Adani Group Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till March 13 after a one-time adjournment on Monday. The second phase of the budget session will begin on March 13. The ruckus in the House continued even after the meeting resumed at 11.50 am after a single adjournment and the ruling party once again demanded to set up a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the matter related to the Adani Group and withdraw the suspension of Rajni Patil. demanded to take Amidst uproar by the opposition members on this issue, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar first tried to run the Zero Hour and then the Question Hour. But the opposition members demanding JPC started raising slogans against the government. Dhankhar repeatedly appealed to the members creating ruckus to allow the House to function. But seeing no effect of his appeal, he adjourned the meeting till March 13 at 12:05 pm.

It is noteworthy that today was the last day of the first phase of the budget session of Parliament. The second phase of the session will begin on March 13. Earlier in the morning, as soon as the proceedings of the House began, Chairman Dhankhar got the necessary documents laid on the table of the House and thereafter rejected the two notices received under Rule 267. He said that under Rule 267, he has received PK notices from Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjay Singh and Communist Party of India’s Sandosh Kumar, but both the notices are not in accordance with the rules, hence they are rejected. The Chairman also objected to the fact that Sanjay Singh has so far given seven notices in the House and the contents of all the seven are the same, only their dates are changed.

On the demand of the opposition members, the Chairman gave Kharge a chance to speak. Kharge raised the issue of deletion of portions of his speeches and said there was nothing unparliamentary in them that should be deleted.
