Infection with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus may increase immunity against the delta variant. This was revealed in a small study in South Africa. The Omicron variant of the corona virus first appeared in South Africa and Botswana in November this year. This new variant of the virus has been found to be highly contagious and has shown great potential to evade antibodies produced by vaccination or by prior SARS-CoV-2 infection. Cases of infection with this variant are increasing rapidly all over the world.
