Norway Chess Tournament: Anand beats Vachier Lagrave

Indian chess player Viswanathan Anand defeated Maxim Vachier Lagrave in 40 moves in the first round of the classical category at the Norway Chess Tournament. With this win, Anand got three points. America’s Wesley So defeated Timur Rajabov in the first round and is now joint-topper with Anand. Magnus Carlsen played out a draw with China’s Wang Head. Earlier, in the blitz category, Anand had defeated world champion Carlsen in the seventh round. Anand finished fourth in the tournament. Players will play an Armageddon (Sudden Death) match when a draw in a classical tournament occurs.
