Election Results 2022: On Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) Samajwadi Party Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sushil Chandra has reacted to the allegations leveled by him and he has said that there is no question of EVM tampering. Because the Election Commission of India has always maintained transparency. Talking to ANI, Sushil Chandra said that the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh has suspended ADM Varanasi. Because they have not followed the procedures to inform the political parties about the movement of EVMs for training purposes.
The CEC further said that there is no question of EVM tampering. EVMs are being used continuously since 2004. In the year 2019, we started Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) at every polling station. Only after seeing them, in the presence of agents of political parties, the EVMs are sealed and their signatures are taken. Dealers keep the EVMs in the strong room amid security. Our side strong rooms are equipped with CCTV cameras for round the clock surveillance. Agents of political parties also keep an eye on the strong room, so the question of any kind of tampering with EVMs does not arise, nor can any EVM be taken out of the strong room.
Chandra further said that every EVM has some number or the other. When people from a political party raised the question, we showed them the EVM number, which did not match the EVM number generated for the election.
The Chief Election Commissioner justified the suspension of Varanasi ADM NK Singh saying, “The process is to inform the political parties before the movement of EVMs, which was not done by the ADM. Which created the rumour.
