S7 a.m. at a gas station in the Abule Egba neighborhood on the outskirts of Lagos, the Nigerian capital. We can see from afar a long line of motorists impatiently waiting to fill up with gas, which has become a rare commodity in recent months. And yet, the scene takes place in the first country producing black gold in Africa. Despite an estimated daily production of around 1.47 million barrels per day in 2021, the African oil giant faces a shortage that persists throughout the country.
