Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will undertake an eight-day visit to China from September 23 for talks with the Chinese leadership including the neighboring country’s President Xi Jinping to deepen bilateral relations with China. Nepal’s Foreign Ministry said that Prachanda will also participate in the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games to be held in China’s eastern city Hangzhou. Prachanda, along with Nepal’s Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud, is currently in the US to attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, from where he will leave for his official visit to China on September 23.

According to a statement issued by Nepal’s Foreign Ministry, “Prime Minister Prachanda is going on an official visit to China from 23 to 30 September at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.” Prachanda’s delegation to China includes members of the Government of Nepal. Many ministers including Foreign Minister Saud, Water Supply Minister Mahindra Raya Yadav, Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Prakash Jwala and National Security Advisor Shankar Das Bairagi are included.
According to the statement, during his visit to China, Prime Minister Prachanda is scheduled to meet Xi Jinping in Hangzhou. Prachanda will hold bilateral meetings with his counterpart Li Qiang and will also meet Zhao Leji, head of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress in Beijing. Prime Minister Prachanda will attend the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou on 23 September.
According to the statement, “Nepal and China enjoy good bilateral relations, being good friends, close neighbors and reliable partners. The foundation of this strong relationship has been laid by many similarities in culture, history and geography. This visit will strengthen our age-old bilateral relations and expand areas of cooperation in various areas of mutual interest. Prime Minister Prachanda will return to Kathmandu on September 30.
