Musewala massacre: Suspect Jadhav told police – the day of the murder was not in Punjab, it was in Gujarat

Santosh Jadhav, a suspect in the famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala murder case, has told the police that he was in Gujarat and not Punjab on the day of the incident. A senior official gave this information on Saturday. When asked about Jadhav’s claim, Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Abhinav Deshmukh said it was being verified. Jadhav has said in his statement that on May 29, he was in a hotel near Mundra Port in Gujarat. Musewala was shot dead on 29 May in Mansa district of Punjab.

The SP said, “This is his (Jadhav’s) statement. We have sent a team to Gujarat to verify this claim. Jadhav and Navnath Suryavanshi, an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, were arrested on June 12 from Gujarat and brought to Pune. Meanwhile, Pune Rural Police, taking action against Jadhav, arrested six of his associates and recovered 13 country-made pistols and eight mobile phones from them. He has been arrested in a case of extortion at Narayangaon police station here, police said. The case pertains to the alleged demand of Rs 50,000 from the owner of a filter water plant in Junnar tehsil and threatening to kill him if the money is not paid. Asked whether the arrested accused are also part of the Bishnoi gang, the officer said that all of them are linked to Jadhav, who is linked to the Bishnoi gang. The police have also appealed to the people if Jadhav and his associates has threatened them, so they should come forward and file a complaint. According to the Punjab Police, Bishnoi has been named as an accused and a conspirator in the Moosewala murder case.
