More than 2000 people celebrated Holi and Jewish festival ‘Purim’ in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Tel Aviv:

More than 2,000 people in Israel celebrated Holi and the Jewish community festival ‘Purim’ by enjoying Indian dance and classical music at a market in Tel Aviv. Tel Aviv Municipality in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Israel organized events to celebrate both the festivals. Every year both the festivals are celebrated on the same day or one day behind. People of Indian origin including students living in different parts of Israel participated in this program.

There are many similarities between the festival of colors Holi and the Jewish community festival ‘Purim’. During this time people are seen in colorful clothes.

A person who came to participate in the event said, “Both the festivals are celebrated to symbolize the victory of good over evil. Both the festivals are celebrated at almost the same time. Both the festivals are celebrated in open spaces where people come together, dance, sing, enjoy food and have fun together.

The event organized in Yafo was attended by Indian Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Staff Rajeev Bodwade and Rafi Shushan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of “Mishlama Leyafo” from Tel Aviv Yafo Municipality.

“The Embassy of India, in collaboration with Tel Aviv Municipality, organized ‘India in Flea Market’ on the occasion of Holi and Purim festivals,” the Indian Embassy said in a post on ‘X’. More than 2000 visitors participated in it.
