He trade between Mexico and the United States continues to show a solid performance during the first semester of the year 2023, since according to data provided by the US Office of Statistics, the total trade between both nations reached the figure of 396 thousand 600 million dollarsregistering a 3.1 growth percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the breakdown of total trade, Mexico stood out as the main trading partner of the United Stateswith a remarkable 15.7 percent share. This result positions Mexico above other important partners such as Canadawhich reached a participation of 15.4 percent, and China, with 10.9 percent.
Regarding exports, Mexico showed an exceptional performance by sending merchandise worth 236 billion dollars to the United States during the first six months of the year. This amount reflected a 5.4 percent growth compared to last year.
It should be noted that, during the first half of the year, Mexico supplied the US market with a 15.5 percent of total imports by the United States, thus consolidating its position as a reliable and relevant trading partner for the US economy.
On the other hand, the exports from the United States to Mexico amounted to 160.6 billion dollars, experiencing a slight variation of the 0.0 percent in the same period.
On the other hand, in the month of June, exports from Mexico to the United States reached a total of 41 thousand 099 million dollars, showing a slight decrease of 0.7 percent compared to May. However, in annual terms, these exports recorded a growth of 4.4 percent compared to June 2022.
In contrast, exports from the United States to Mexico during June totaled 27 thousand 388 million dollars, reflecting an increase of 0.4 percent compared to May. However, in an annual comparison, these exports presented a decrease of 5 percent in relation to June 2022.
