Mayor Sheriff defeated top seed Maria Sakkari in straight sets to win the Parma Ladies Open tennis tournament title. She has become the first Egyptian player to win a WTA Tour level event. Sheriff won the first title of his career by defeating Sakkari 7-5, 6-3 in the final. This is the first time he has defeated a player in the top 10.
With the match being postponed due to rain, both the semi-finals and the final were held on Saturday.
