Maluma releases the most sexual album of his career

With the intention of connecting with his musical origins and resuming his connection with that street reggaeton that fell in love with him at the beginning of his adolescence, Maluma He launched “The Love & Sex Tape”his sixth studio album and the most explicit of his career.

“I was missing that connection with the street, with that Maluma who released ‘Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy’, with my essence,” the Colombian artist told Efe, referring to his second album with which he was known outside of his hometown. country.

That 2015 production contained “Borró casette”, his first success outside of Colombia and considered risky due to its sexual content. Then came Maluma’s most scandalous song “Cuatro Babys”. But now with “The Love & Sex Tape” she has surpassed both when it comes to highly sexual lyrics.

After spending the last few years with the general market in his sights, Maluma decided that “the time had come to make music again for the people who put me here. And not only for them, I really missed it”.

Part of the inspiration for this album, on which he worked with his collaborators The Rude Boyz, Edgar Barrera, Keytin, among others, was the time he spent focused on the “Medallo en el mapa” concert, which he gave in his hometown of Medellin this May 2022.

“The Love & Sex Tape” has the sound of the paisa urban movement that revolutionized urban music in Spanish in which artists like J Balvin, Karol G and Maluma himself, among many others, were born.

malice with care

The first two singles from this album. “Cositas de la USA” and “Wetting seats” were a kind of appetizers.

“You gave me the square and you did not give it to anyone. I sent you krippy (high quality marijuana) and you foticos of the ass”, says the lyrics of “Wetting seats”, a collaboration with his compatriot Feid.

When questioned about the message of this new proposal, he warns that it is not as “unconscious” as when it began. At 28 years old, Maluma knows that his issues weigh.

“In life we talk about sex, marijuana, alcohol. I don’t think there is anything to hide. Moreover, what is inhibited is what one most wants to do. I want it to become everyday to talk about these things and for there to be as much information as possible, so that young people can make their own informed decisions, ”he said, commenting on the content of most of the lyrics on the album.

“The Love & Sex Tape” contains eight songs, of which six have the “explicit” label, to warn that the lyrics are not suitable for those under 18 years of age.

The best thing that can be done “for youth is to set an example of life,” he said. With that he feels satisfied, because he considers himself a “hard-working” man and very focused on social work, which he develops with his foundation “El Arte de los Sueños”.

With the support of Puerto Rican stars

Of the eight songs on “The Love & Sex Tape,” four are collaborations. In addition to the theme with Feid, there are three themes in which she had the talent of five Puerto Rican stars of urban music, namely: “Sexo sin titulo”, with Jay Wheeler Y Lenny Tavarez“We eat ourselves alive”, with Chencho Corleone, “Tsunami” with Archangel Y The ghetto.

“One has to be grateful to those who started all this or who started with one,” he said, explaining why he decided to invite these artists to work on the production.

“La vida es bella”, “Mal de amores” and “Happy Birthday” complete the album and represent the Love part of the album, although in reality they reflect the effects of the end of love.

It is these three themes that contain the most subtle and interesting musical compositions and arrangements, although throughout the production Maluma strove to take the beats and melody to a sophisticated place. “We did it very carefully,” she said in relation to his team both in Colombia and in Miami, where the production took place.

It is the same care that he is putting into the rest of his interests, such as his first adventure as a clothing and perfume designer, with his company “Royalty by Maluma”his relationships with corporate sponsors and other businesses that he did not detail, but that he hopes will allow him to remain permanently relevant.
