Sitapur Hate Speech Case: Mahant Bajrang Muni, who threatened Muslim women with rape in Sitapur district, has been arrested in UP. UP Police arrested Mahant in Sitapur. This FIR was registered after people’s displeasure over the viral video of Mahant’s hate speech. The National Commission for Women had also taken cognizance of the hate speech. Commission’s chairperson Rekha Sharma had written a letter to the Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh to immediately intervene in the matter and register an FIR against Mahant.
A video of a hate speech given by the Mahant in Sitapur had gone viral on social media in the past. The video showed the Mahant purportedly threatening to kidnap and rape Muslim women while addressing a gathering outside a mosque in Sitapur district. He was saying that if someone harassed a girl in a Muslim area, he would kidnap Muslim women and rape them in public. In this video of hate speech, a policeman was also watching in the background.
The two-minute video containing the hate speech is said to have been recorded on April 2, when a man identified as Mahant Bajrang Muni Das of Maharishi Shri Laxman Das Udasi Ashram in Khairabad town took out a procession on the occasion of Navratri and Hindu New Year. was taken out. It is alleged that when the procession reached near a mosque, he started giving hate speech on loudspeaker.
