Emilio Butraguenodirector of Institutional Relations of Real Madrid, expressed his concern about the injuries of Karim Benzema, Rodrygo and Ferland Mendy in Mallorca, and denounced the hard game of his rival, with two entries before which he assured that he does not understand that the VAR does not enter to punish with red cards.
“Karim I don’t have to explain how important he is for us, he shows his category in every game. It’s lucky to be able to count on him. It was a very complicated game, Mallorca defended very well and very strongly, there are two moves that they deserve a reflection”, assured in Movistar.
“The tackles on Vinícius and Rodrygo are very hard, they can lead to injury. The referee was close and they are very dangerous tackles. If you haven’t seen them, VAR has to intervene for football. You have to protect the players and those tackles have to be avoided for the good of all,” he lamented.
Despite Real Madrid’s ten-point distance over Sevilla, Butragueño was still cautious when talking about whether they are already LaLiga champions. “We have to be very cautious.”
“It is true that we have a notable advantage but there are still many points and difficult rivals that await us. We are very satisfied with the team’s personality against a rocky rival but in the end we were able to win the game. We are in a good position but every game they are very even and we have to continue along this line”, he said.
Butragueño showed hope that the discomfort that prevented Benzema, Rodrygo and Mendy from finishing the match will not prevent them from playing the Spanish football classic next Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“We are focused on our own, concerned to see what the doctors tell us about the three injured that worries us. We want to prepare well for the classic with the intention of winning. We have to continue along this line. The team is very united and we have to continue the same,” he said.
Part of the war in Madrid
The victory could have been very expensive for the merengue team. Three players had to leave injured before the final whistle. Benzema, with problems in the soleus of his left leg, requested the substitution as soon as he made it 0-3.
Mendy, with physical problems, and Rodrygo, with a strong blow to one of his ankles after a plank from Raíllo. The player left without being able to put his foot down and it seems more important than Karim and Ferland. Early evidence points to a scaphoid injury.
