Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered an inquiry into the alleged use of force against Kashmiri Pandit employees. When Kashmiri Pandit employees were protesting against the killing of their colleague Rahul Bhatt, the security forces used force to control them. Protests are taking place at several places in Jammu and Kashmir against the administration’s alleged failure to provide security and killing of Kashmiri Pandit employees. To control the protesters, the police lathi-charged the protesters and lobbed tear gas shells at Sheikhpura in Budgam on Friday. The government has ordered a probe into the murder of Rahul Bhatt and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted for this.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha said on Sunday, “Through the murder of Rahul Bhatt, an attempt was made to create an atmosphere of fear and terror among the people. He was a very good employee. We have formed an SIT to probe the matter. The SIT will investigate the matter from all aspects. He said the SIT would also probe the use of force on the protesters. Sinha said, “The use of force on Kashmiri Pandits will also be probed. Within a week, they will be deployed at safer places. They have some other complaints, those will also be looked into. We understand their pain and problems. He said that wherever the Kashmiri Pandit employees would stay, the administration would make elaborate security arrangements for their safety. The Lt Governor said that he has directed the administration that there was no need to use force against Kashmiri Pandit employees.
