Coach Laurent Batlles and Esperance Sporting League 1 club Troyes Aube Champagne (Estac) have decided “To put an end to their collaboration by mutual agreement” and “In good understanding”, for “Give new impetus to the group” before “To approach the return phase”, announced, Thursday, December 30, the Trojan club in a press release.
“At the end of many constructive and benevolent discussions, it was indeed agreed to continue the season by following different trajectories”, detailed the club.
The decision, which is taken in the midst of a roller coaster season, was not expected. “This strong strategic decision aims to preserve all the parties and to maximize the chances of maintenance” of the club, currently ranked 15e Ligue 1, added the club.
Placed in training in July, Erick Mombaerts will ensure, by interim, the direction of the training sessions and the responsibility of the first team for the coming weeks, added the Estac. From Sunday, the day of resumption of the professional group, “The training sessions of the first team will take place in complete camera, until further notice”, the club added.
Arrived in June 2019 from the AS Saint-Etienne reserve, “Laurent Batlles will have discovered the professional world as a coach and will have offered Troyes the Ligue 2 BKT title at the end of the 2020-2021 season”, recalled the club.
Assistant to Christophe Galtier in Saint-Etienne in 2015-2016, Laurent Batlles had his debut as a main coach with the reserve of the Greens in National 3, before being called up for his first professional experience by Daniel Masoni, then president of Estac. A bet for the Aube club, which has often revealed talented technicians, such as Alain Perrin or Jean-Marc Furlan.
