In the Under-23 Senior National Wrestling Competition held at Kochi (Kerala) under the aegis of Wrestling Federation of India, Kewal Kharia of Hisar defeated his opponent Haryana wrestler in the semi-finals in the 63 kg weight category and entered the finals of Maharashtra. Defeated the wrestler and captured the gold medal.
Only Kharia has won dozens of medals in wrestling so far. Keval will be warmly welcomed by the villagers on reaching home after winning the medal. Kewal’s father Jai Singh Bainiwal is the head teacher of a primary school in village Kharia.
