Karnataka High Court stays proceedings in actress Chitra Hallikeri’s case

Bengaluru, June 4 (Agency)

The Karnataka High Court has stayed the FIR lodged by actress Chitra Hallikeri against her businessman husband Balaji Pothraj and father-in-law. The actress had filed a complaint against her husband, father-in-law and a bank manager alleging forging signatures and using their bank account without their knowledge. Senior advocate, appearing for Pothraj and his father, argued that the businessman’s wife Chitra had separated from him and filed a false complaint. The court was told that Chitra lodged a false complaint when Balaji Pothraj filed a divorce case against his wife. A single bench of the High Court issued an interim order staying the action. In her complaint, Chitra had alleged that her husband and father-in-law were operating an account in South India Bank in her name without their knowledge. He alleged that on the basis of this account, he had made loans and other financial transactions in his name.
