Before the arrival of a group of Jewish religious in the country for a Latin American meeting, the governor of Tucumán and former chief of staff paid homage to his friend David Lau.
On Monday, in Puerto Madero, and under extreme security measures, the Argentine Jewish community paid homage to Israel’s Chief Rabbi Azkenazi, David Lau.
It was the luxurious Alvear Icon hotel where at least four hundred people met, including the highest authorities of DAIA, AMIA and OSA, in addition to the Ambassadors of Israel, Eyal Sela, and of the United States, Marc Stanley, told the Vis a Vis Jewish Network. For the government was the Minister of Education Jaime Perczyck.
At the same time, he knew Clarion the gala was organized by the governor of Tucumán and former chief of staff, Juan Manzurwho after moving away from the management in the Casa Rosada together with Alberto Fernández secluded himself in his territory, where in the end the Supreme Court did not authorize him to appear with Osvaldo Jaldo’s vice.
Manzur is such a friend of Lau that they adopted the custom that every time they see each other they greet each other with “this is your house”, depending on where one is and the other.
They met a few years ago and since then they have visited each other from continent to continent. For that matter, Manzur is a leader of Arab origin closely linked to the Jewish community and Israel. This Tuesdayreceived the priest in the White Room of the Tucuman Government House, being the second visit of the Chief Rabbi to said province.
Manzur declared the Chief Rabbi of Israel, as well as the Ambassador of Israel, guests of Honor of the People. With them was the senator and friend of Manzur Pablo Yedlin, chairs the Friendship Group with Israel in Congress. Yedlin was at the Icon dinner on Monday.
Lau, the highest rabbinic authority for Judaism in Israel, arrived in Tucumán with Ambassador Sela; and with Rabbi David Yosef (the director of the Israel Talmudic Academy “Lechave Daat”); and the rabbi of Mikdash Yosef, Ureil Husni, told Vis a Vis that he detailed the number of religious and community leaders present.
From the World Zionist Organization, from the Latin American Jewish Congress, from FACCMA, also the well-known Adrian Werthein plus others from sports institutions. Among them were Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt, also a friend of Manzur, and Rabbi Eliahu Hamra, others. they were of DAIA, its president, Jorge Knoblovits, and Gustavo Michaine. They were seen at Claudio Epelman (CJL)Gustavo Sakkal, Marcelo Glasman (Cissab), and Ariel Blufstein,
Hamra is part of the organization of the rabbinical conference that takes place in Buenos Aires until this Wednesday (the Rabbinical Forum of Latin America) and that has the support of the Superior Rabbinate of the Argentine Republic, which works within the framework of the AMIA, and the International Assembly of the Conference of European Rabbis. There are religious leaders from Venezuela; Mexico; Panama; Brazil; Colombia; Peru; Chile, among others.
Speakers were Chief Rabbi David Lau, the ambassadors of Israel and the United States, rabbis from Panama, Mexico and Israel, and Juan Manzur.
According to the Vis a Vis chronicle, Manzur told stories of his trip to Israel and remarked that because of his work (as a politician and governor), he had to give speeches “before 20, 30 or 50 thousand people, but what never happened to me happened in front of the Wall (Kotel)”. His legs buckled with excitement, he argued. “I never had that feeling.”
By the way, on one of those trips, Lau gave his friend the chance to light the eighth Jewish candle, the last candle of Hanukkah.
