Karthikeya Sharma, an independent candidate from Haryana for Rajya Sabha, convicted in three check bounce cases, is the richest of the three candidates. According to the election affidavit, his assets are Rs 390.63 crore. Congress’s Ajay Maken has assets worth Rs 26.31 crore and former BJP minister Krishan Lal Panwar has assets worth Rs 4.38 crore.
Karthikeya, 41, son of former Ambala MLA Vinod Sharma, was convicted in three separate cases of check bounce by a court of Metropolitan Magistrate, Borivali-Mumbai on May 23, 2018. In two cases he was sentenced to simple imprisonment for six months and fined Rs 7.25 lakh each. In the third case, he was sentenced to fine of Rs 14 lakh. Appeals against all the three cases are pending in the Sessions Court, Goregaon-Mumbai. According to the affidavit, Kartikeya does not have any car and jewellery. His movable assets are Rs 387.64 crore. He has 2.52 acres of agricultural land in South West Delhi worth Rs 1.5 crore. He does not have any commercial property or house in his name. His net worth along with his wife (Rs 1.49 crore) is Rs 390.63 crore. He has shown in the affidavit that his income comes from business and salary. He is a graduate in Science, Business Management from King’s College, London.

There is no criminal case pending against 58-year-old Ajay Maken. Along with his wife and dependents, he has movable assets worth Rs 7.42 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 18.89 crore. This includes Rs 3.32 crore in bank deposits in his name and Rs 68.71 lakh under bonds/shares/mutual funds. He has a Maruti Breeza car worth Rs 9.54 lakh and residential property worth Rs 8.33 crore. He is a post graduate in Public Administration from Himachal Pradesh University. Their earnings come from interest, dividend and pension.
Panwar’s earning from MLA pension
According to the affidavit, there is no criminal case pending against 64-year-old Krishan Lal Panwar. He and his wife have movable assets worth Rs 1.98 crore. This includes the Toyota Fortuner worth Rs 26 lakh. Of the total immovable assets worth Rs 2.4 crore, he has residential property with his wife and non-agricultural land worth Rs 1.20 crore. He is matriculation pass and his earning is from MLA pension.
