In order to empower more latin women and encourage them to follow their dreams, the actress and singer Jennifer Lopez partnered with the organization Grameen America to facilitate 600,000 Latina entrepreneurs access to $14 billion in financial capital, in addition to providing them with six million hours of financial training.
Through the alliance and management of Limitless Labsthe latest philanthropic project of the actor’s fiancee Ben Affleckseeks to support a segment of the population traditionally ignored when talking about business and entrepreneurship in the United States: Latin women.
In a press release published by Limitless Labs it is explained: “(Jennifer) López will motivate, promote and inspire Latina entrepreneurs, helping them understand the path to financial independence and literacy by joining the Grameen America microloan program. Lopez will mentor the organization’s existing Latina business owners, educating them on the importance of credit and asset building and developing a savings program to promote financial resiliency.”.
López, for his part, commented: “Being Latino in this country has always been a matter of pride for me. I am honored and beyond grateful to partner with Grameen America. We are building pathways to employment and leadership opportunities. There is a lot of strength in this community and we are taking advantage of that. This partnership will create equality, inclusion and opportunity for Latina women in business.”
According to Andrea Jung, President and CEO of Grameen America, one in four small businesses in the United States are owned by Latinos, and they usually have a harder time receiving loans and financial support.
In addition to being one of the most recognized artists on a global level, López is an entrepreneur and business woman. Today, she owns products and business units that include JLO Beauty and his collaborations with Coach Y DSW. She is also considered one of the women with the highest purchasing power in the United States, with an estimated fortune of $150 million dollars, according to Forbes.
